SUMMARY
Butler County Health Care Center has built a multi-year wellness partnership with Wellness360 around the same close-knit, hands-on culture that defines a rural critical access hospital. Rather than adopting a generic template, Wellness Director Jennifer Svoboda and the hospital's Employee Wellness Committee designed a full calendar of custom programming and used Wellness360 to bring it to life on the platform. The result: engagement and completion rates that rank among the strongest in Wellness360's client base, strong enough to earn state-level recognition in 2026.
Our wellness program is going really well. We make a few tweaks each year, but overall things are in a great place, and everybody's happy.
Jennifer Svoboda
Wellness Director, Butler County Health Care Center
When Jennifer Svoboda sits down to plan Butler County Health Care Center's wellness year, she doesn't come in with a handful of generic ideas. She comes in with a fully built-out plan: activities, point values, team structures, and rules already mapped out. Her job isn't to pick from a template; it's to find a partner who can build her program on the platform, piece by piece. That partner has been Wellness360.
Building a Wellness Program as Creative as Its Team
Butler County's wellness calendar reflects the personality of a small hospital where the wellness director knows her staff by name. Step-based team competitions, seasonal fitness challenges, virtual group journeys, reflection and journaling activities, and in-person events all run alongside a points-based rewards structure, each one designed by Jennifer and her committee first, then mapped onto the platform second.
Some of the richest ideas came directly out of the hospital's existing culture: an existing peer-recognition tradition that the committee wanted mirrored digitally, a personal goal-setting activity tied to a physical keepsake for extra points, and a privacy-conscious way for staff to log personal progress photos, visible only to the wellness director unless an employee chose to share more widely. Each idea was mapped to a platform mechanism: events with check-in codes for in-person sessions, photo-upload proof for self-reported activities, and point-based challenges for anything trackable over time. Butler County also recently completed a migration to Wellness360's next-generation platform, carrying forward every point, registration, and completed health assessment without disrupting a program already in motion.
Personalized Wellness, Small-Hospital Heart
Because Butler County is a hospital, its wellness program leans into the realities of hospital work: physician-form uploads for biometric screening, and a rewards structure that includes a paid day off alongside cash prizes and gift cards, all reflecting a program built for the people actually doing the work.
"I am very, very excited about all this," Jennifer said after walking through how each piece of her plan would come together on the platform, a reaction that, staff and committee included, has largely defined the partnership.
Measurable Engagement and Health Gains
For a program this size, the numbers stand out. Butler County Health Care Center's platform enrollment, challenge participation, health risk assessment completion, and biometric screening completion rates all rank well above what Wellness360 considers strong performance, placing the hospital among the very strongest performers across its entire client base. That's a striking result for an organization with fewer than 250 benefits-eligible employees, and proof that a program built specifically for its people outperforms one built for scale alone.
Continuing the Journey
Butler County Health Care Center has renewed its Wellness360 partnership year after year, and Jennifer has already begun exploring ways to grow the program further, including extending wellness access to community partners connected to the hospital.
That sustained investment in employee wellbeing hasn't gone unnoticed. Butler County Health has been recognized by the State of Nebraska for running an outstanding employee wellness program: this September, its Wellness Staff and Employee Wellness Committee received the 2026 Governor's Wellness Award in the Harvester category (the state's top tier, reserved for organizations demonstrating high-quality outcomes from an advanced wellness program), presented at the State Capitol.
